Insights from the Second War in Lebanon
The second war in Lebanon 2006 was unique opportunity to watch how regular army fights terror organization. The curtain was lifted for short time came down, and most of the discussions about that war were about its handling. However, if we look from long range perspective what we might see is the future of that kind of warfare.
Both sides fought different wars they didn't really do. Yes, they fought each other but with very different war and war objectives in mind.
In later IDF's campaigns in Gaza it seems that the lessons did not penetrate, the same misreading the battlefield existed.
Regular armies upgrading their doctrine and methods all the time - it seems that the Second War in Lebanon signals that it is time to change disc - the upgrading of the old disc exhausted itself.
